Little is known of F/O Gilberd at this time. He was an Australian WAG on the Squadron between Nov. 1944 and June 1946. The 59 Squadron ORB notes Jack as "Gilbert" whilst the Australian National Archives as "Gilberd". I have assumed the latter to be correct.

According to the Australian National Archives, RAAF personnel records, he was born on 7th November 1919 in Sydney NSW and enlisted in Sydney.
