Date of Death: 03/12/1945
Details:

Little is known of W/C Halliday at this time. He is lsted as a passenger on board '59 Sqn Liberator GR.MkVI KH125' when the aircraft was struck by lightning and crashed into the ground. view details

It is possible that W/C Halliday was only a passenger and not in fact C/O of 59 Sqn. Records show that S/Ldr Hinks AFC was C/O of the Squadron at this time.

HALLIDAY, WING-COMMANDER J. G., an Oxford blue in 1935, was killed on December 3, when a plane carrying service men on leave crashed near Rochefort in France. As an opening bat at the University he failed to maintain his City of Oxford High School form, but in 1938 he was elected captain of Oxfordshire, and in 1939 he headed the County averages with 49.
