Little is known of F/O Mackey at this time. He was an Australian WAG on the Squadron between Oct.. 1943 and April 1945.

According to the Australian National Archives, RAAF personnel records, he was born on 23rd August 1914 in Canterbury Victoria and enlisted in Melbourne.

Whilst serving with No.11 Sqdn in the Middle East in 1942, Sgt Mackey was seriously wounded when his Blenheim was shot down by enemy ground fire. The pilot was also injured and the observer, Sgt Richmond was killed.
