Alwyn Jay (Endurance) makes note of F/L JM Francis RAAF possibly making an attack on a U-boat on this day. Francis and crew dropped a sonobuoy pattern on an oil slick and then after further investigation, dropped D/C's. No results were recorded.

During WWII, the RAF used three-letter codes to identify their aircraft from a distance. Two large letters were painted before the roundel, which signified the squadron to which the aircraft belonged, and another letter was painted after the roundel which indicated the individual aircraft.
