Name of Captain: P/O Alexander Roy Neilson DFC (RCAF)

Crew Details:

This image is sourced from the World War Aircrew site from a page dedicated to Sgt HF Tuckwood. F/O Neilson was a decorated pilot (DFC) and was well respected in the Squadron. His DFC citation makes notes of some of the missions he flew, and I have also found note of some of them taken from the 59 ORB by one Pierre Renier. Crews from this era were lucky to survive, and the Neilson crew were amongst those who did. The crew above would have been a variant of a Liberator or Fortress crew based on the number of members (crews often changed depending on sickness of members, postings, misc causes, deaths etc) however this particular crew is mentioned on a mission in early 1943, which would have been when the Squadron were based at Chivenor and flying the Fortess IIA's.
